BOLD. FIERCE. WOKE.
From poet laureates to original works from local poets -- these poems are woke! They celebrate diversity, note historical struggles, and demand personal empowerment.
Our Woke Poets include Maya Angelou, Alice Walker, Nikki Giovani, Rita Dove, Toni Morrison, Margaret Walker, Ntozake Shange, Arida Wright, Judy Leggett and of course, Amanda Gorman.
We honor the Black Women who speak truth to power and hold a light so the rest of us can catch up.
