Joseph Nixon (co-writer) is best known for his writing collaborations with Brian Mitchell. Together, they founded the award-winning sketch group The Ornate Johnsons, and went on to be head sketch writers on Radio 4 and BBC1. They also write regularly for several television comedy shows, and they share a string of theatre writing credits which include the Edinburgh Festival Fringe hits Big Daddy Vs. Giant Haystacks, Those Magnificent Men, and Gilbert (No Sullivan). Their production of Underdogs won the 2022 OffFest award for theatre at Brighton Fringe. The Shark is Broken received a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play.

Ian Shaw (co-writer) is a British actor and writer who has built a career in theatre, television, and film. He is the son of the acclaimed actor Robert Shaw, best known for his role as Quint in Jaws. Ian pursued training at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London, developing his craft across classical and contemporary theatre including work with the National Theater and Manchester Royal Exchange. Alongside his acting work, he has increasingly turned toward writing, blending his industry experience with a deep understanding of dramatic storytelling. The Shark is Broken is based on his father's 'drinking diary' which Ian found in 2017.
